Chinese-made drones are aiding in the relief efforts in Nepal following devastating flash floods. According to Reuters, four DJI FlyCart 100 drones, donated by China, have been airlifting bodies and delivering food to survivors. The drones, capable of carrying up to 220 pounds, have made 10 to 16 aid deliveries daily. The Nepal army has reported that the drones have helped distribute 1,591 kilograms of food items in 31 flights. The official death toll in Nepal had risen to 1,369 as of September 9, with over 5,000 people still missing, including 587 foreign nationals. The United Nations has appealed for $20.5 million to aid 43,000 people. Smaller drones have also been deployed in search-and-rescue efforts, aiding in the recovery of survivors trapped in hydropower tunnels.
