A secretive AI lab founded by former serial entrepreneur Brett Adcock is designing a new interface that could change how humans interact with intelligent software. The company's Director of Design Abidur Chowdhury, previously at Apple, aims to create an 'end-to-end personal intelligence product' with persistent memory and real-time interaction capabilities.
Chowdhury believes the current devices are fundamentally pre-AI and that AI should be integrated at a base layer. He highlights everyday tasks like filling out forms or planning home renovations as areas ripe for automation, suggesting wearables might not be the future of human-AI interfaces.
The ambition is clear: to anticipate users' needs and genuinely care about them, much like fictional characters Jarvis or Her, but with a focus on simplicity and elegance. The company, which employs former Meta AI researchers and designers from Apple and Tesla, has already begun training models on its humanoid robotics company Figure’s robots.
Hark aims for its first release this summer, backed by $100 million in personal seed money from Adcock. However, the exact form of the product remains a mystery, leaving many questions about how it will integrate seamlessly into daily life.
