Popular flight-tracking app Flighty has released a new “Airport Intelligence” feature, providing users with real-time alerts about airport disruptions and their causes across 14,000 airports worldwide. This timely update comes amidst ongoing tensions in the Middle East and the US TSA agent shortage.
The feature is available as a web dashboard, allowing all users to track disruptions for free. Flighty uses data from pilots and airlines, including METARs, TAFs, NOTAMs, and more, to give a comprehensive picture of airport operations such as ground stops and landing procedures.
Users can now understand why their flights might be delayed or cancelled through simple translations of technical language. The new update includes airport warnings for various reasons like hail, low visibility, de-icing, and lightning; airport delays forecasts with AI-powered summaries; and Deep Airport Stats showing the busiest airlines, most impacted routes, and more.
Beyond just disruptions, Flighty now offers a TV mode for broadcasters to display live status updates of airports on screen. Users can also compare their airport visits with friends directly in the app.
