A startup called Comp AI has raised $34 million to make cybersecurity and compliance a breeze, using AI to write policies and spot vulnerabilities. Founded by Lewis Carhart, Claudio Fuentes, and Mariano Fuentes, the company aims to automate tedious tasks, ensuring companies meet security requirements without sacrificing human oversight. 'Imagine a company completes its SOC 2 audit and two weeks later deploys a new AI agent that can access customer data,' says Carhart, highlighting the need for continuous monitoring.
The platform also offers AI-powered penetration testing, letting the software proactively test codebases and infrastructures for security issues. This Series A funding will help expand the product and address the growing need for continuous security and compliance in the agentic era. As AI adoption speeds up, Comp AI aims to build a security layer that can monitor and validate risk in real time.
For Claudio Fuentes, the experience of building startups and facing the SOC 2 compliance process taught them the importance of finding specific use cases for products. Comp AI is part of the next generation of cybersecurity startups emerging to help companies run more efficiently. Mariano Fuentes adds that humans still have a crucial role in onboarding the AI, supporting controls, and maintaining the agentic workflow.
Carhart notes that for many software companies, security and compliance are directly tied to revenue, with customers often requesting SOC 2 reports before closing deals. 'What Comp AI automates is much of the work companies traditionally have to do around that process,' he explains, emphasizing the platform's role in helping companies meet and maintain those security requirements.
