Google has unveiled its first wave of laptops under the Googlebook banner, partnering with Acer, Asus, Dell, HP, and Lenovo to create a range of devices geared towards productivity and creativity. Pricing starts at £899 and tops out at £1,299, positioning these laptops as a solid option for those who demand the latest in tech and software.
Each model comes with a year of Google AI Pro, including 5TB of cloud storage, and access to trials of YouTube Premium, Adobe Photoshop, and CapCut. But perhaps the most intriguing aspect is Google’s promise of up to 10 years of updates, a stark contrast to the usual two-year refresh cycle.
The lineup features a mix of designs. The Acer Googlebook 14 is the only convertible in the bunch, while the Asus model boasts a slim profile and a metallic grey-blue finish. Dell’s XPS Googlebook, with its light gold hue, offers a more premium look, albeit with fewer ports. HP’s Googlebook 14, with both facial recognition and a fingerprint reader, adds an extra layer of security.
The Lenovo Googlebook 15, with its 15.3-inch display and unique white satin finish, rounds out the collection. All models come equipped with fingerprint sensors and Google’s AI-driven software, ensuring a seamless user experience. While the promise of longevity is exciting, ongoing shortages may mean price hikes for some models.
