Cerebras Systems CEO Andrew Feldman is pushing back against the AI doomsday narrative, suggesting that the industry is overlooking the potential benefits of AI in fields like healthcare. He argues that AI leaders should focus on the positive impacts, such as curing cancer, rather than dwelling on the risks.
Feldman, whose company’s customers include major tech players like OpenAI and GSK, believes that powerful technologies, including AI, come with inherent risks. However, he thinks these risks should be managed through thoughtful regulation and community engagement. He points out that the data center industry, particularly in the U.S., has struggled to work with local communities, a situation he hopes to improve by encouraging data center buildouts in countries like Brazil, Canada, and Finland.
Despite concerns about efficiency improvements potentially reducing demand for his company’s chips, Feldman remains optimistic. He explains that both hardware vendors and model makers need to work together to achieve meaningful progress in AI development.
“Some of the leaders in the AI world maybe shouldn’t be allowed to talk in public,” Feldman quipped at TechCrunch Disrupt 2026, referencing the negativity surrounding AI. However, he believes that by focusing on the potential benefits, the industry can better address and mitigate the risks.
