Nvidia has launched new open-weight models for always-on agents, aimed at both enterprise and personal use. The Nemotron 3.5 Super VL is designed for large-scale applications, while the Bolt models are lighter and intended for local computing on new AI PCs and workstations.
Nvidia boasts that the Super VL outperforms competitors in specific agentic tasks and has gained support from major companies like Skydance, EY, and Salesforce. These models are part of Nvidia's strategy to offer open AI models for businesses to customize and deploy on their own infrastructure, rather than relying on proprietary models from other companies.
The smaller Bolt models are targeted at consumers and programmers, making them accessible for everyday tasks and local projects. However, as AI assistants become more prevalent, privacy concerns are growing, with users wary of granting deep access to their personal data.
With Nvidia selling AI-powered PCs to run these models, the company aims to create a new market for itself. Yet, the trend towards self-hosted AI models reflects a broader shift towards more control and autonomy in the AI ecosystem.
