Canva has rolled out an enhanced version of its AI assistant, allowing users to create editable designs through text prompts. This update enables users to describe what they want and get multiple design options generated for them. The tool’s use of layers offers flexibility in editing.
The new feature comes as part of Canva's strategy to make its AI central to user workflows, complemented by additional features like image generation and website creation. Competitors such as Adobe and Figma are also investing heavily in AI assistants, indicating the growing importance of automation in design processes.
Canva’s co-founder, Cliff Obrecht, highlighted that while many companies strive for streamlined workflows, small businesses often prefer using Canva right from start to finish. This versatility is driving promising growth in Canva's enterprise business, which has shown a 100% year-on-year increase. With the company valued at $42 billion, it seems poised for an IPO next year.
Alongside these advancements, Canva is integrating its AI with popular tools like Slack and Gmail to provide more context-aware features. The update also includes scheduling capabilities to manage repetitive tasks, though users will still need to review drafts before posting.
