Gmail gets AI smart summaries

Is humanity becoming a collective version of Siri, or is it just another day in tech?

At Google Cloud Next, the tech giant unveiled an exciting new feature for Gmail called AI Overviews. This AI-driven tool will summarize emails to help users quickly find answers to their questions without opening multiple messages.

The AI Overviews are designed to make business life easier by summarizing content related to performance improvements, project milestones, invoices and more. Users can simply ask a question in natural language and receive concise answers directly from the summary generated by the AI.

While some may prefer traditional methods of finding information, this feature is rapidly becoming the norm within Google’s products and on the web at large. For now, it will be the default setting for users with Gemini for Workspace enabled, as well as those who have access to Workspace Intelligence in Gmail.

In addition to Gmail, AI Overviews are also being rolled out to Drive, making it easier for businesses, enterprises and educators to manage their documents. This means that Google’s suite of productivity tools is getting smarter, faster – potentially changing the way people work and communicate online.
