YouTube’s AI Cooks Up Guided Search

Is Google's tech making the world a little too predictable?

YouTube is rolling out an AI-powered search feature that serves up step-by-step answers, blending text and video. Users can plan a trip or follow recipes with ease, getting both snippets and full videos. For now, it’s available to Premium US users who opt in. Google aims to expand this to non-Premium users soon.

The new “Ask YouTube” feature doesn’t just stop at travel; you can ask about coffee shops too, and get a mix of video suggestions. It's part of Google’s push for AI-enhanced searches across its platforms, promising a more interactive and informative user experience.

This development could transform how we use search engines, but some may wonder if it means less serendipity in our quest for information. Will the internet still be an unpredictable adventure or will it all be too neatly packaged?

Google hints at further features, such as exploring prices side-by-side and maintaining projects within AI mode. This new feature could lead to a future where everything is just one question away – but perhaps not in the way we imagined.
