Almost immediately after Microsoft and OpenAI announced their revised agreement, Amazon CEO Andy Jassy took to Twitter to express his delight. The new arrangement allows AWS's Bedrock service to offer OpenAI's latest models, including Codex and a new agent service called Managed Agents.
Bedrock is described by Amazon as an AI app building and model-choosing service that leverages OpenAI’s reasoning models, offering features like agent steering and security. The company promises this marks the beginning of deeper collaboration between AWS and OpenAI.
The Microsoft/OpenAI relationship has reportedly been deteriorating for some time, with each company seeking support from their biggest rivals. OpenAI is now partnering with both AWS and Oracle, while Microsoft has turned to Anthropic; Redmond’s software giant is also working on a new agent offering powered by Claude.
With these moves, the AI space could become increasingly competitive as different platforms vie for supremacy. It will be interesting to see how this evolving landscape affects both developers and users of these technologies.
