Google has announced the global rollout of its cutting-edge conversational search feature, Search Live, now available in more than 200 countries. First launched last July, this innovative tool allows users to point their phone camera at objects for real-time assistance and back-and-forth conversations that draw on visual context.
Prior to the global expansion, Search Live was only accessible in the U.S. and India. Now, with the help of Google’s new audio and voice model, Gemini 3.1 Flash Live, users can engage in more natural and intuitive conversations by simply tapping the Live icon in the Google app.
To use Search Live, open the Google app on your Android or iOS device, tap the Live icon under the search bar, ask a question aloud, and receive an audio response. The feature also enables you to explore web links for more information. As Google notes, ‘Search Live is designed for those moments when you need real-time help.’
In other tech news, Google Translate’s Live Translate feature has expanded to iOS and now includes more countries such as Germany, Spain, France, Nigeria, Italy, the United Kingdom, Japan, Bangladesh, and Thailand. This means that users on both Android and iOS can access real-time translations in over 70 languages.
This expansion signifies a significant step forward in our quest for seamless technology integration into daily life, but perhaps it also suggests we should learn to speak more clearly or at least provide better visual context next time we ask Google for help with that new shelving unit installation.
