ChatGPT Images 2.0: India's Hit, Global Hesitation

As AI art tools gain traction, India leads while others watch and wait.

India has emerged as the largest user base for ChatGPT Images 2.0, with users creating personal visuals such as avatars and fantasy-themed images. However, the global response remains mixed, with limited overall growth in most markets.

The app downloads rose by 11% week-over-week following its launch, but daily active users and sessions increased only slightly. Emerging markets like Pakistan, Vietnam, and Indonesia saw sharper spikes, indicating stronger new-user demand.

OpenAI's latest upgrade includes better rendering of non-Latin text and new “thinking” capabilities to refine outputs from a single prompt. Early Indian users are experimenting with a wider range of formats including fashion moodboards and restored photos, highlighting the potential for personal use in AI art tools.
