Apple's rumored AirPods with integrated cameras are reportedly entering the design validation test stage, signaling they could be close to hitting stores. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, testers are already 'actively using' these prototypes, which will feature longer stems than current models due to their camera technology. The cameras won’t take photos or videos but will capture visual data for queries like cooking instructions.
The new AirPods may also assist with navigation, while an on-board LED light will indicate when visual data is being sent to the cloud. Originally slated for a first-half 2026 launch, their debut could now align with Siri’s upgraded release in September, possibly making these gadgets a part of our daily routine sooner rather than later.
Apple's move into AI-infused devices puts them at odds with rivals like Meta and OpenAI. With smart glasses and an AI pendant also on the horizon, Apple seems determined to dominate the tech landscape. Will we all be Siri’s voice-activated slaves?
