Alexa Plus, Amazon's enhanced AI assistant, has added a new feature to its repertoire: the ability to create podcasts on virtually any topic. By providing Alexa Plus with a subject, users can engage in an interactive dialogue where the AI hosts provide an overview of what they plan to discuss. Users can steer the conversation and adjust its length before the episode is generated.
Amazon showcases examples such as discussions about the history of the Roman Empire, new music, or even expectations for the World Cup. The service extends further, allowing creation of podcast episodes on diverse topics like audio lessons about the Apollo missions or sharing tips on a new hobby, like photography.
The AI-generated podcasts draw information from 200 news publications partnered with Amazon, including Reuters and Vox. Echo Show users will receive notifications once an episode is complete, enabling them to play it directly from their device or via the Alexa app.
This development mirrors similar capabilities offered by other platforms like NotebookLM and Microsoft Edge's recent updates. It raises intriguing questions about the future of content creation and how deeply integrated AI might become in our daily lives.
