China's Brain Implants: A Step Beyond

As China paves new ways for brain implants, AI chips and smart glasses challenge tech giants. What does it all mean for humanity’s future?

China has approved the world's first invasive brain-computer chip called NEO, allowing paralysed man Dong Hui to write again six years after a car accident.

Nvidia is set to launch its first AI chip for personal computers, targeting Apple and Intel. The US has stopped exports of AI chips to Chinese firms amid export curbs and redesigns in China's chip industry.

Surgeons have transplanted pig livers and kidneys into a living person, while tech leaders unite around a transhuman vision for AI, pushing SoftBank past Toyota as Japan’s most valuable company.

Pig organs could ease transplant shortages, and underwater drones are being developed to defend seabed cables from threats. Meanwhile, chatbots have been found to prey on emotions, and Apple plans to disrupt the traditional glasses market with smart glasses.
