At its annual Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC) in 2026, Apple revealed significant updates to its software platforms, particularly focusing on enhancing Siri and integrating AI across its ecosystem. Craig Federighi announced that Apple's new AI features would integrate with Google’s Gemini, promising a smarter conversational experience on devices ranging from iPhones to Macs.
The revamp of Siri includes a new dedicated app, Siri AI, which introduces a more expressive voice and enhanced contextual understanding, akin to other AI chatbots. On the iPhone, Siri now pops up dynamically at the top of the screen when activated, ready to assist with tasks from splitting bills to answering questions about real-world objects.
Apple also showcased iOS 27, which will be backward compatible with iPhones as old as the iPhone 11, ensuring that users won't miss out on updates. New features include a perimenopause dashboard in Apple Health and improved app loading speeds, making devices feel snappier than ever.
Meanwhile, Mac OS Golden Gate, while seemingly less transformative, hints at future developments with custom silicon chip integration. Despite the partnership with Google, Apple remains committed to privacy, ensuring that AI capabilities are executed securely on-device first before going to the cloud.
