Parents can now add soccer games and spirit week themes to their calendars with a single command thanks to the upgraded Siri. The AI works by drawing from email and calendar data on-device, sending only relevant personal information to Apple’s private cloud when needed.
While it performs basic tasks well — like setting reminders or listing events — comparisons to competitors like Gemini highlight where Siri still falls short. Despite this, its success marks a significant improvement over previous attempts by Apple.
I tested Siri’s capabilities and found that while not perfect, it does what it says on the tin — albeit in a matter-of-fact way compared to Gemini's more emotive approach. It’s a step forward for a company that previously promised too much too soon with its AI efforts.
The new interface also makes Siri more accessible, appearing as a prompt when swiping down from the home screen or through the Dynamic Island. This subtle integration ensures users are never far from assistance without being intrusive.
