DoorDash has unveiled a new tool called ‘Ask DoorDash’, which uses artificial intelligence to help users order food, groceries and make reservations. The feature allows customers to describe what they want in their own words or even use photos from cookbooks and grocery lists.
The chatbot can build a cart based on the items in your photo, ensuring you don’t accidentally purchase duplicates of staples like sugar or butter. For those who prefer to dine out, DoorDash’s AI will suggest restaurants, personalising its recommendations with information about dietary preferences and past orders. For date night reservations, users can request a table for two that fits their budget and mood.
While this might seem like a step towards fully automated dining experiences, it also raises questions about how much we are willing to delegate our decision-making processes. Is convenience trumping personal choice?
