How to Exorcise Gemini from Your Google Docs

Gemini might not be human, but it sure acts like it has a will of its own.

Ever found yourself in the middle of a writing task only for an AI pop-up to interrupt your flow? If you’ve hit rocky waters with Gemini’s bottom bar preferences or other pesky features, fear not. Here’s how to silence those annoying interlopers and regain control of your Google Docs experience.

First up, tackle the Gemini pop-up directly:

Click ‘Gemini’ on the top menu bar above your document,Select ‘bottom bar preferences’ from the drop-down menu,And voilà – that pesky AI box is gone.

For those more pervasive smart features, a broader approach might be needed:

Navigate to your Gmail inbox, where you’ll find the gear icon for Settings and click it.Then, at the top of the menu, click ‘See all settings’ – and while you’re here, why not pick out a fun theme for your inbox?Scroll down to ‘Google Workspace smart features’, then click on ‘Manage Workspace smart feature settings’. Here, toggle off the smart features in Google Workspace that are currently driving you mad.

With these steps, you should be able to enjoy a smoother writing process without those annoying interruptions. Happy writing!
