Notion nixing Notion Mail: AI handles your emails now

As AI takes over, email apps are becoming obsolete—just like Skiff.

In February 2024, Notion acquired Skiff, an encrypted email and productivity app. Less than a year later, in April 2025, Notion killed off the Skiff email service, integrating it into its own Gmail client, Notion Mail.

Now, after just another year, Notion is shutting down Notion Mail entirely. The company claims that most of their users are now relying on AI agents to manage their emails, with over half never opening their inbox manually.

The move marks a significant shift in how we handle digital correspondence, reflecting the increasing reliance on artificial intelligence for everyday tasks. As Notion stated in an X post: 'Your inbox should think like you—more personal to how you work and over time, more capable with AI.'

Users can rest assured that their email history will remain intact in Gmail. This decision by Notion is a clear sign of the times, where technology is evolving faster than we can keep up.
