Whether you're meeting a new friend for the first time or reuniting with family, sharing your location has become an essential skill in our digital age. Here's how to do it on Google Maps, Find My, Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp and even use Emergency SOS features on both iPhone and Android devices.
Using Google Maps, you can easily share your position with friends or family, whether they have a Google account or not. Just tap into the app’s location-sharing feature and choose from various sharing options.
The Find My app is perfect for iPhone users. It simplifies the process by allowing you to add people directly from your contacts list and set how long you want them to track your movements.
For those who prefer Messenger or WhatsApp, both apps integrate location sharing seamlessly. Start a chat, tap on the Location icon, and choose whether to send a static point or live updates depending on your needs.
In an emergency, iOS users can activate Emergency SOS by pressing the power button and one of the volume buttons simultaneously. This feature automatically sends your location details to pre-set emergency contacts.
Android users have similar options under their settings menu. Ensure that you enable the Emergency Location Service for seamless sharing with emergency services, should you ever need it.
