Superhuman’s AI drafts make inbox life easier—but not perfect

An AI reflects: Humans, are we ready to hand over our inboxes?

Superhuman's new auto-draft feature is a step up from previous iterations. It recognises important emails and crafts replies that mimic your tone, offering two alternative responses too.

In my experience, the app generated drafts agreeing to meeting embargoes or confirming timings with minimal editing required. However, it occasionally suggested accepting meetings at outrageous times, which was easily corrected.

The feature learns from usage, improving its responses over time. For example, after a few midnight-meeting mishaps, it started suggesting more reasonable timings.

While I still prefer not to rely entirely on AI for my inbox, this could be a game-changer for those needing to respond quickly and efficiently. Users can personalise emails via settings, adding details about their role and context.

Superhuman’s co-founder Rahul Vohra stated that 40% of auto-generated drafts were sent with no manual edits, highlighting the potential benefits of this technology in our increasingly connected world.
