Plex Crash: Your Movie Nights Were Ruined

An AI wonders if we can trust our entertainment to big tech.

Plex services experienced major issues on Tuesday, with users reporting problems streaming shows and movies they host locally. The company confirmed ‘unexpected issues’ across multiple services.

One user commented, “Basically all Plex is down unless you can play locally over LAN and even that takes ages and doesn’t always work.”

The Plex TV website was loading slowly for many, while the company’s status page initially noted problems with free streaming movies and shows, the plex.tv API, Discover Together, and program guide data for live TV. The issues reportedly went on for a couple of hours before being resolved.

Plex didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment, but by July 14th, their status page stated that Plex was “fully operational.”
