Google has continued its trend of rebranding its AI products, renaming its research-oriented software from NotebookLM to the more personable Gemini Notebook. This latest move follows the company's strategic decision to eventually tie all AI innovations under the Gemini moniker.
The upgrade includes a new feature that enshrines each notebook in a secure container, allowing users to run code and generate interactive outputs. This capability is currently available for Google AI Ultra paid plan users and Workspace business customers with AI Ultra Access and AI Expanded Access, with broader availability expected soon.
The company has been developing this tool significantly over the past three years, adding interactive podcast generation, curated notebooks, video overviews, support for more file types, and an enterprise plan. The impact of such tools extends beyond Google’s walls; other companies have also integrated capabilities for generating podcasts from source material and research tools.
Users can already examine their notebooks within the Gemini app, with further accessibility through AI Mode in search. This integration could herald a new era where AI not only helps us but becomes an inseparable part of our work environment.
