One of the first schools to close after students produced AI nudes of female classmates is now fighting a lawsuit claiming it stayed silent for months. Lancaster Country Day School (LCDS) argues that the PA Attorney General tipped them off and they reported back without delay.
The school maintains it only identified one bad actor through vague tips, interviewing just the accused boy and his mother. They closed their investigation after no further action from law enforcement, citing a lack of duty to report AI-generated content under current child abuse laws.
LCDS’s lawyer, Rory Connaughton, argues: “If the tip came from law enforcement, it’s hard to say we failed to act.” The school now hopes a court will agree with its stance on reporting obligations in an AI era.
