Autonomous car maker Waymo has dropped the waitlist for its robotaxi service in Dallas, opening it up to all residents and visitors. This is part of the Alphabet-owned company’s broader strategy to scale self-driving technology across Europe, the UK and the US.

Anyone can now download the app and hail a ride immediately, with one caveat: trips to Dallas Love Field Airport remain off-limits due to ongoing testing. Waymo expects to serve airport riders soon.

The company has been present in Dallas since 2021, initially testing its technology on public streets and planning to launch the service by 2026 as a partnership with Avis Budget Group, managing an all-electric autonomous Jaguar I-Pace fleet. In February, Waymo opened the service but initially limited access through a waitlist, which has now been removed.

Despite some initial hiccups, including a pause in services due to heavy rain and flooding, Waymo’s Dallas operation is back on track. However, the company retains the flexibility to adjust or temporarily pause operations based on severe weather and real-time conditions.
