Roku has added a new 24/7 stream filled with projects from Colin Petrie-Norris’ AI startup, Fairground. While the channel offers a never-ending selection of content, much of it is a mix of low-quality text-to-video models and poorly edited clips.
The programming lacks consistency or theme, making it hard to find anything truly engaging beyond occasional semi-cohesive narratives. The visual polish is noticeably lacking, revealing that many videos are cobbled together from machine-generated clips rather than human-produced shots.
Despite its potential to revolutionise entertainment, Fairground’s content isn’t impressive. Its presence on Roku may offer a way for the startup to reach a massive audience but doesn't seem to be offering anything that would entice viewers beyond mindless background programming.
