Swedish tech firm Einride has struck a deal to add 500 Tesla Semis to its electric trucking fleet, set for phased deployment over the next two years. This move is expected to triple the size of Einride's current fleet and sweeten its sales pitch for its comprehensive Saga AI software.

These Semis will join key routes in California, Georgia, New Jersey and Texas, extending Einride’s electric freight network. Amazon has also signed on, integrating 75 electric trucks into its Relay network and bringing charging infrastructure to five US locations.

The deal comes as part of a broader strategy for Einride, which went public earlier this year after years developing its own heavy-duty electric trucks and autonomous pod-like vehicles. The company is now focusing on scaling its business, aiming to turn potential long-term revenue into actual earnings.

Despite Tesla’s delays in delivering the Semi, the partnership with Einride could be a significant step towards wider adoption of electric trucks across North America. With battery production issues still being addressed by Tesla, such deals are crucial for companies like Einride seeking to implement sustainable logistics solutions.
