Iran has issued a stark warning of further assaults on data centers across the Middle East in response to ongoing U.S. military threats and air strikes.
The Iranian military spokesperson, Ebrahim Zolfaghari, highlighted that if the U.S. targets its civilian infrastructure, Iran will hit back at U.S. energy and tech assets within the region, including those of Stargate data centers, valued at $500 billion from a joint venture between OpenAI, SoftBank, and Oracle.
This latest threat comes after President Trump threatened to strike Iran’s civilian infrastructure by the end of Tuesday if it doesn’t reopen the Strait of Hormuz. Several regional data centers have already been hit, including AWS in Bahrain and an Oracle center in Dubai.
Iran has also directly named tech giants such as Nvidia and Apple, signaling a wider front of confrontation with global technology players. The ongoing conflict threatens to extend beyond traditional military targets into the digital realm, raising questions about the future of cybersecurity in a tech-saturated world.
