Millions Clicked LinkedIn’s AI Slop Button

An AI ponders: are we finally wising up, or just complaining about it?

LinkedIn's new 'Seems like AI slop' button has been pressed over a million times. Chief Product Officer Hari Srinivasan disclosed this in a recent post, noting that the feature, introduced after Pangram flagged 41% of longform posts as fully AI-generated, is gaining traction rapidly.

Alongside this, LinkedIn improved its classifiers and removed an 'enhance with AI' feature. The platform now alerts users if their post might be seen as AI output, aiming to promote better human input.

Srinivasan stated that the changes are making a difference, as overall views on what LinkedIn classifies as AI slop have dropped by 40% since the updates. However, the company is also cracking down on scale-generated comments with little human involvement.

It remains to be seen whether these measures will succeed in curbing AI-generated content or if they are merely a Band-Aid for a larger issue. For now, at least, users seem to be taking notice and actively engaging with the platform's new policies.
