Asia-based data center provider Firmus has just raised an impressive $505 million at a post-money valuation of $5.5 billion. The round comes hot on the heels of its previous AU$330 million raise in June, bringing its total funding to over $1.35 billion in just six months.
Firmus is spearheading an ambitious project called Project Southgate, aiming to build energy-efficient AI data centers in Australia and Tasmania. These centers will utilize Nvidia’s cutting-edge Vera Rubin platform for AI computing, positioning Firmus at the forefront of this tech revolution.
Interestingly, Firmus began by providing cooling technologies for Bitcoin mining but has now pivoted into becoming a sought-after player in the AI market. This transformation showcases how industries can evolve and adapt to meet new technological demands.
The funding will be used not only to expand its data center infrastructure but also to further develop its Vera Rubin platform, ensuring it can keep up with the rapid advancements in artificial intelligence technology. As more companies turn their attention towards AI, Firmus is well-positioned to capitalize on this trend and continue its upward trajectory.
