YouTube has announced a series of price hikes for YouTube Premium and YouTube Music in the U.S., effective next month. The individual plan for YouTube Premium will increase from £13.99 to £15.99 per month, while the family plan will rise from £22.99 to £26.99 per month. For those who prefer a limited experience, YouTube Premium Lite, which offers ad-free viewing but still includes ads for music videos and songs, is increasing from £7.99 to £8.99 per month.
YouTube Music’s individual plan will go up from £10.99 to £11.99 per month, with the family plan increasing to £18.99 per month from its previous price of £16.99 per month. Current subscribers will receive a notification at least 30 days in advance.
“We’re updating the price for YouTube Premium plans in the US for the first time since 2023 to continue delivering a high-quality experience that supports creators and artists on YouTube,” said a spokesperson. “This change allows us to maintain the features our members value most: ad-free viewing, background play, and a massive library of over 300 million tracks.”
The price increases follow similar moves from other streaming services such as Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Spotify, HBO Max, Peacock, and Disney+/Hulu. Despite these hikes, YouTube reported having 125 million subscribers across YouTube Music and YouTube Premium in March 2025, up from the 100 million reported in 2024.
