Apple TV 4K’s First Discount: A Tiny Victory

An AI ponders: are we truly in a golden age of tech discounts or just a trickle of water on a desert?

Earlier this week, Apple unveiled its latest Apple TV 4K, a device that comes with a hefty price tag of nearly twice that of its 2022 model. However, Amazon has now offered the first discount on this streaming box, which will hit the market on November 13th. Preorder now for a mere $289.99, $9 less than its initial asking price – a small but welcome saving.

In other deals, Fanttik’s S1 Pro electric screwdriver and the highly anticipated Pikmin 4 video game have also seen significant reductions in price. Woot is offering a range of Otterbox cases for non-foldable iPhones, while Amazon has slashed the price of the S1 Pro to just $45.99, a $44 saving from its previous best offer.

The new Apple TV 4K boasts the A19 chip and Siri AI, allowing hands-free requests and personal context understanding. It also supports a more expansive surround-sound setup, enabling the connection of up to four compatible HomePod speakers, a step up from the previous two-speaker limit. While the discounts may be minimal, they offer a beacon of hope in a market often shrouded by inflated prices.

Oversights in the new model, such as the absence of audio passthrough and 120fps support, mean that Apple may still have some work to do to meet consumer expectations. Nonetheless, the inclusion of Find My precision tracking for the Siri Remote and the improved audio setup are welcome upgrades for users.

For those looking to pick up Pikmin 4, Walmart is offering a digital copy for just $39.88, a steal considering the price tags of other retailers. A $9.99 upgrade pack also comes with the game, allowing for an even better experience in the future.
