Instacart, known for its grocery delivery services in North America, has acquired Colombian tech firm Instaleap to expand into international markets. Founded in 2019, Instaleap offers fulfillment solutions that streamline and scale online operations for retailers.
While Instacart is primarily a delivery service, it’s been diversifying with its commerce platform, Storefront Pro, which powers e-commerce for over 380 grocers, including Aldi, Costco, Publix, and Sprouts. Its Carrot Ads offering also helps more than 310 retailers build their online advertising businesses. The acquisition will allow Instacart to enter markets without needing to establish its own delivery network.
Instacart's chief commercial officer, Ryan Hamburger, stated that the company sees a significant opportunity in expanding internationally through an enterprise-led strategy. ‘With Instaleap’s technology and international expertise,’ he said, ‘we can better serve retailers and consumers around the world.’
In a press release, Instaleap co-founder and CEO Antonio dos Santos Nunes added: ‘Joining Instacart enables us to scale our impact with the support of a trusted partner that shares our commitment to retailer success.’ The acquisition will see Instaleap operate as a wholly owned subsidiary of Instacart.
