Motorola has just announced that its latest foldable device, the Razr Fold, will retail in the United States for $1,900. This price tag places it squarely between cheaper counterparts like the Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold and pricier competitors such as the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7.
The Razr Fold offers several intriguing features, including a 6,000mAh silicon-carbon battery which could theoretically offer significantly better battery life. However, it falls short on some key specifications: it's not dust-resistant, and while it is thinner than the Pixel 10 Pro Fold, it doesn’t quite match its robustness.
With inflation pushing up costs across the board, tech enthusiasts are left wondering whether a device that would have been relatively affordable just a few years ago now seems like an exorbitant luxury. Motorola must hope that its promise of superior battery performance will entice buyers to part with nearly £1,235.
Achieving this balance in the market is tricky, especially when it comes to foldable devices which are still perceived as premium products. The Razr Fold might just be a stepping stone for Motorola to further explore the lucrative but competitive world of foldables.
