Investor enthusiasm for Anthropic is reaching unprecedented levels. The company behind Claude AI assistant has attracted multiple preemptive offers to raise up to $50 billion at a valuation of between $850 billion and $900 billion, according to sources.
Despite the hefty price tag, investors are clamouring to get in, with one major fund prepared to commit as much as $5 billion. However, securing this funding remains challenging for Anthropic, which is expected to make a final decision at a board meeting in May.
The company’s rapid growth, evidenced by an annual revenue run rate of over $40 billion, has attracted significant interest from potential investors. Antrhopic’s AI coding capabilities, specifically through its Claude Code and Cowork platforms, are driving much of this success, with many believing the firm is only scratching the surface of its potential.
Should Anthropic proceed with another fundraise at these terms, it would not only double its valuation but also match or surpass that of OpenAI, which recently closed a record-breaking $122 billion round. The race for AI supremacy continues as tech giants and investors vie for a piece of the pie.
