Amazon has expanded its built-in price tracking feature to show product prices over the past year. Previously limited to 30 and 90 days, users can now see historical pricing trends across a full year by tapping the 'Price history' button next to an item’s price in the Amazon app or asking Rufus for the details.
The expansion coincides with the weeks before Prime Day, an event that has drawn scrutiny from legal authorities. California Attorney General Bonta accuses Amazon of manipulating prices at other retailers leading up to its annual deals. This update is now available in the US, UK and India, marking a significant improvement for users seeking transparency.
While Amazon initially rolled out this feature in 2024, third-party tools like CamelCamelCamel and Keepa have long provided similar services. The new timeline will help shoppers make more informed decisions, especially as they plan their purchases around major events like Prime Day.
