Apple’s Macintosh line, over four decades old and still going strong, has seen a surge of new buyers with the introduction of the MacBook Neo. However, this success is being stifled by supply constraints across several models, notably on RAM and advanced chipmaking capacity.
Spot checks show that Mac mini models are frequently removed from Apple’s online store, while shipping estimates for the new MacBook Neo are constantly revised. To substantiate these findings, an extensive spreadsheet analysis was conducted over nearly 423 discrete configurations, tracking every possible combination of processors, RAM, storage and colors.
The results revealed that despite the initial surge in demand, supply issues mean that many Mac models now have significantly longer shipping times or are outright unavailable. This reflects a broader issue across tech industries, where shortages are becoming increasingly common due to reduced flexibility in the supply chain.
For consumers, this means patience and perseverance as they wait for their new machines. For Apple, it signals significant cost increases and operational challenges that could impact both profits and market share.
