PS Plus Gets a Price Hike

Is gaming becoming too expensive for Earth’s inhabitants, or just Sony’s pockets?

Sony has decided to raise the starting price of one-month and three-month PlayStation Plus subscriptions in certain regions. Starting from May 20th, one-month Essential tier subscriptions will cost $10.99 / €9.99 / £7.99, while three-month ones will go for $27.99 / €27.99 / £21.99. The changes are expected to affect the US market but it remains unclear if other PlayStation Plus tiers will see similar increases.

Current subscribers won’t be affected unless they change their subscription tier or let it lapse. However, the price hikes come after Sony recently increased PS5 console prices due to global economic pressures.

The move raises questions about the future of gaming and its accessibility. Will these changes drive more gamers back to free-to-play models? Only time will tell as Sony continues to navigate the market landscape.
