Oura Ring 5: Smaller, Sleeker and More Expensive

While Oura vows to make smart rings more appealing, it's clear they're banking on bigger profits as well.

Oura has just unveiled its fifth generation of the popular smart ring, the Ring 5. Starting at $399, it boasts a slimmer design, enhanced battery life and improved sensing accuracy, making it the smallest smart ring available.

The Ring 5 comes in six finishes including redesigned Gold and Deep Rose options, with Black and Silver retailing for $399 while the rest cost $499. Preorders are open starting today with shipping set for June 4th.

Key updates include new software features like Health Radar which monitors biometric signals such as blood pressure and nighttime breathing patterns, offering a more comprehensive view of one's health.

The company is also partnering with Counsel Health to offer on-demand care directly within the app. However, this comes at an additional cost beyond Oura’s standard monthly subscription fee.

While the Ring 5 aims to attract a broader audience by being more discreet and accurate, it remains to be seen whether these improvements will outweigh its higher price point for consumers.
