The HP Omnibook 3 has arrived, challenging the MacBook Neo with twice the memory and storage at an attractively lower price tag of $599 (or as low as $519). This Windows notebook, branded with the Snapdragon X chip, seeks to redefine what a budget laptop can offer.
However, it's not just about the specs. The OmniBook 3’s design is unassuming—made of plastic and decidedly less flashy than its counterparts. Its thickness at 0.7 inches might leave some users feeling that it’s a bit ‘chonky’. The device also suffers from minor practicalities; the lid doesn’t always close properly, which could be annoying for some.
The good news is that the increased heft of the lid gives this plastic laptop a sense of sturdiness. Despite these imperfections, the OmniBook 3 stands out as one of the best college laptops to grace our screens, offering value and functionality in spades.
