Cash App, the popular US personal finance app, is launching its own mobile service powered by Gigs, the same company behind Klarna's. The new Cash App Mobile will offer an unlimited 5G data plan for $40 per month, including taxes and fees, with connections to Cash App Green rewards and Cash App Families.
Beyond just connectivity, Cash App aims to integrate its mobile service fully into its ecosystem, allowing users to manage their mobile service, spending, and saving in one place. The service will provide premium 5G on AT&T's network, offering unlimited data, talk time, text messaging, HD streaming, and hotspot access within the US.
While it remains to be seen how popular this new venture will be, Cash App is setting its sights on modern earners who want a more integrated experience. As digital wallets become more mainstream, integrating mobile services seems like a logical next step for financial platforms.
The move by Cash App is part of a broader trend in the tech industry where money apps are increasingly expanding their reach into other aspects of our lives, from rewards programs to family management tools. This could signal a shift towards more comprehensive fintech solutions that address multiple needs at once.
