Waymo is rolling out its new Waymo Premier program, offering a 10% cashback on every trip and five free ride cancellations each month. The service will cost $29.99 per month, but it’s available in select cities like Los Angeles, Phoenix, and San Francisco.
Unlike Uber One, which offers meal deals and hotel discounts, Waymo Premier is positioning itself as a premium offering with no waitlists. It aims to attract those willing to pay more for the convenience of a robotaxi service that’s always waiting for them.
The launch comes at a time when Waymo is expanding its operations in the U.S. and preparing an international debut later this year. It’s also testing out its new Ojai van in key cities, hoping to make the experience even more appealing.
While some might see it as overpriced, others may find value in avoiding those pesky waitlists. After all, who doesn’t want a driverless car at their beck and call? The real question is: can Waymo turn this into a profitable business line?
