Fubo has increased its monthly subscription fees by $15 following a new deal with NBCUniversal. The move restores some popular channels lost in November due to a contract dispute, including local NBC affiliates and Telemundo. However, the Essential plan now costs $89 per month, while the Pro and Elite plans are at $100 and $99 respectively. Regrettably, Fubo subscribers will still miss out on several channels that were spun off into Versant in January.
While the restoration of key networks such as NBC affiliates, Telemundo, regional sports channels, Bravo, Cozi, NBC News NOW, Universo and True CRMZ is welcome, it comes at a cost. The company defends the price hike by stating that they are merely passing on the increasing costs associated with providing this content to their audience.
Despite Fubo's decision to lower prices last December in response to the loss of channels, the recent increase brings subscription rates back above pre-blackout levels. Users have reported receiving notifications about these changes as part of the rolling updates to the new channel lineup.
Fubo’s actions reflect a broader trend where content providers are increasingly passing on higher costs to consumers, often leading to mixed reactions among subscribers who value both quality and affordability in their entertainment packages.
