A startup called Natural is aiming to revolutionize how AI agents handle transactions by raising $30 million. With current payment systems built for human interaction, AI agents often need a human touch to complete tasks like making payments or collecting funds.
Kahlil Lalji, co-founder and CEO of Natural, realized the gap between evolving AI technology and outdated financial infrastructure when his previous company Ivella was sold in 2023. He now believes agentic payments will be 'structurally the most important problem' in the future of finance.
By offering an agent orchestration layer, Natural allows companies to empower their AI agents with autonomous payment capabilities. This could lead to a significant increase in transaction speed and volume as AI can operate at computer speeds rather than human pace.
The startup’s ambitious plan includes handling disputed transactions differently and integrating stablecoins into its architecture. Despite competition from rivals like Stripe, Natural sees potential for substantial growth if it can outpace established giants.
