RAM prices have soared so high that even premium laptops are feeling the pinch. Framework has had to update its pricing for the Laptop 13 Pro, with all preorders affected. The company received a double whammy from its supplier, who provided more than doubled memory costs.
Existing preorders will be shipped as expected but may face changes in their chosen configuration of RAM—64GB, 32GB or 16GB modules won’t exactly match initial orders. Displeased customers can still cancel and receive a full refund, though Framework advises them to consider keeping the new configuration.
The company’s website now lists starting prices at $1,599 for a prebuilt Laptop 13 Pro with an Intel Core Ultra 5 325 processor, 16GB RAM, and 512GB storage. This is a $100 hike from its original announcement.
RAM prices have been in turmoil since supply issues meet increased demand. Framework has remained transparent about the challenges but this update will likely dampen some pre-order excitement.
