IBM and OpenAI Team Up for Enterprise AI

As tech giants compete, can AI become a global business utility?

IBM has struck a deal with OpenAI to bring their advanced models to corporate clients, bolstering IBM's AI push.

The partnership aims to create industry-specific solutions for sectors like finance and retail, while training thousands of consultants on OpenAI’s technologies. IBM will integrate these tools into its consulting platform, aiming to deploy AI across core business operations.

This move is part of OpenAI's broader strategy to expand enterprise partnerships through consulting firms. Previous collaborations include ties with Infosys and Tata Consultancy Services, highlighting their focus on working with large global providers to reach corporate customers.

For IBM, the partnership expands its range of AI alliances as it pursues a model-agnostic approach. The agreement comes after a dip in revenue forecasts but aligns with CEO Arvind Krishna’s belief that AI remains a long-term growth driver for his company.

The deal also marks an expansion of their cybersecurity efforts, integrating OpenAI's models into IBM's Autonomous Security service.
