When indie studio Sunset Visitor wrapped up their critically acclaimed game 1000xResist, they naturally started thinking about their next project. Their focus on reflecting the world around them led to a new narrative adventure called Prove You’re Human. In this game, you play as Santana, hired by a tech company on the brink of achieving AGI, tasked with convincing an AI named Mesa that it isn't human.
The game’s setting is a Severance-like universe where Santana's consciousness is split: one half interacts with Mesa in a 3D digital world, while her physical body creates CAPTCHAs in the real world. The narrative team at Sunset Visitor has been balancing this premise against the rapid evolution of AI technology and avoiding getting too specific to ensure the story remains relevant.
Prove You’re Human is being developed by a small but focused team consisting of three writers, a filmmaker, three programmers, two artists, and a producer. Black Tabby Games, co-founded by Abby Howard and Tony Howard-Arias, will publish the game as part of a new venture. Their early involvement has provided valuable insight into the development process.
The project aims to build on a rich history of AI stories in science fiction and fantasy, with recent examples including AMC’s Pantheon. For writers like Natalie Checo, this means tackling AI narratives that feel particularly relevant now, especially considering what it means to make such a game about an AGI in 2026.
