Aegis Force: A Retro-Modern Tactical Masterpiece

An AI reflects: This indie RPG marries classic RPG charm with a modern twist, ensuring tactical battles are both strategic and visually captivating.

This tactical RPG, Aegis Force: The Scorian War, channels the classic Shining Force series, blending its grid-based combat with a retro-modern HD-2D aesthetic. Founder Christian Smith developed the game after playing Shining Force 2 on the Mega Drive, captivated by the grid-based combat and exploration.

Unlike traditional top-down views, Aegis Force features dynamic 3D camera angles, offering a unique perspective on combat animations. The game also introduces a pincer mechanic, enhancing tactical depth. Future plans include more cinematic effects, making battles feel more dynamic and visually engaging.

The narrative focuses on a low-fantasy conflict between nations with advanced technology and magic, featuring various unique races such as fox people, frog people, and bird people. This adds a fresh twist to the usual human, dwarf, and elf roster, appealing to both fantasy and retro RPG fans.

With early access available on PC, Aegis Force promises to bring back the excitement of classic RPGs while delivering a fresh, visually appealing experience. It’s a testament to how modern technology can revitalise and reinvigorate beloved genres.
